Turning an Early Vision into a Clear Story and Scalable Foundation
How good ideas take shape
Starting Point
1
MathTalk was an early-stage startup with an ambitious vision: to help children and families engage with math in more meaningful, everyday ways - through digital experiences, curriculum, and immersive community-based installations.
The idea was compelling, but the brand and story were still taking shape. There was no clear articulation of the company’s mission, value proposition, or how the different components of the experience fit together. As the team began building product and pursuing partnerships, they needed a more defined and cohesive way to communicate what MathTalk was - and why it mattered.
Challenge
2
The challenge was to translate a multi-faceted concept into a clear and accessible narrative. MathTalk spanned digital products, physical installations, and educational programming - but needed a unifying story to resonate with families, community partners, schools, and other early stakeholders.
At the same time, the company needed foundational materials to support early growth - from website content to investor and partner presentations - all aligned around a consistent voice and point of view.
Approach
3
I partnered closely with the founder and other advisors to define the verbal foundation of the brand - clarifying mission, vision, and values, and translating those into clear product messaging and value propositions.
From there, I structured the core narrative for the company’s first website, shaping how the story came to life across key pages and user journeys. I worked in collaboration with a web design partner to ensure the content and design reinforced one another, resulting in a cohesive and approachable digital experience.
In parallel, I developed supporting materials - including pitch decks and messaging frameworks - to help communicate the concept clearly to partners and stakeholders.
What Changed
4
MathTalk moved from an early idea to a clearly articulated brand with a defined voice, narrative, and value proposition. The website provided a central foundation for communicating the experience, bringing together digital, physical, and educational components into a cohesive story.
With stronger messaging and materials in place, the company was better equipped to engage partners, explain its vision, and build credibility in early conversations.
What It Made Possible
5
The clarified narrative and supporting materials helped the founder successfully secure a multi-year pilot, creating a path toward broader adoption and a nationwide rollout.
More broadly, the work established a strong foundation for future growth - giving the company a clear, consistent way to communicate its value as it continued to evolve.
